What Is DAO Speaks?

We're a youth speech club run by Seattle-based high school students, dedicated to helping children build confidence and develop strong public speaking skills. Through a mix of prepared and impromptu speeches, fun interactive activities, and bilingual practice in English and Chinese, kids will grow their communication abilities in a supportive environment.

A place where students ages 7-18 meet face-to-face, speak authentically, and build real connections. The events are bilingual with English and Chinese.

What to Expect at Each Meeting

Each meeting is structured but fun:

Prepared Speeches (5 min each)

Members share speeches on assigned topics. Practice makes perfect!

Table Topics (active participation)

Quick, impromptu speaking on fun prompts. Everyone gets a chance to speak.

Constructive Feedback

Members share what worked well and provide helpful tips for improvement.

Result: Every meeting builds skills. Every student grows.

Who We Are

Chloe Zheng
President
Chloe is a senior at Newport High School passionate about building confidence in students. She can speak both Mandarin and English. She has experience in public speaking competing at the national level for Model UN, and has worked with kids extensively as a teaching assistant and teacher at WiseCamps, as well as a tutor. This school year, she will also be interning as a teaching assistant and getting a paraeducator certification. As an officer of Dao Speaks the past two years, Chloe is excited for the coming year!
